A linoprint with an outline of foxgloves in a pink rectangle, mounted in an oak frame.

Foxglove flower linoprint

This limited edition original linoprint is the second in a series of floral designs based on British wildflowers. It features one of our brightest native flowers, the foxglove (Digitalis Purpurea).

Each design in this series features a bold, graphic depiction of a native bloom, inspired by the art noveau style of tarot cards.

With their tall spears of purple-pink flowers, foxgloves are a familar site in woodlands and gardens alike during Summer, an important plant for our pollinators. They have long been recognised for their power to heal or to harm - foxgloves are used in medicine, but are also toxic if eaten.

In folklore, there are many tales linking foxgloves with the fair folk, and planting them in your garden was said to be an invitation for fairies to visit. In Scandanavian stories, the fairies taught foxes to ring the bell-shaped flowers to warn of hunters, whilst other traditions say foxes wore the flowers as gloves to mask the sound of their footsteps.

Limited edition of five prints on Japanese HoSho paper. 394 x 279 mm (15.5 x 10.9 in).

You can buy this item as a standalone print, add a mount to slot into any 16x12 inch frame, or add a solid oak frame so it's ready to hang straight onto your wall.
